The Persian language, also known as Farsi, is an Indo-European language that has been spoken for thousands of years in what is now Iran, Afghanistan, and Tajikistan. It is also widely spoken in parts of Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Azerbaijan.
The history of Persian language dates back to the ancient Iranian languages of the Avestan and Old Persian. These languages were used in the ancient Iranian Empire, which included areas of present-day Iran, Central Asia, and parts of the Middle East. Old Persian was the official language of the Achaemenid Empire, which ruled from 550 BC to 330 BC.
During the Islamic Golden Age in the 8th century, Persian became the language of literature, science, and culture. The Persian language spread through the Islamic world, and many Persian scholars and poets made significant contributions to Islamic culture and literature. The most notable of these was the poet Ferdowsi, who is known for his epic poem, the Shahnameh, which is considered one of the greatest works of Persian literature.
